1989 520-I service indicator

i cant believe that i cant seem to reset this simple indicator.the method im using,ign off, short pins 7-19 in diagnostic socket.ign on for 4 seconds for an oil service or 10 seconds for an inspection.remove shorting wire,replace cap on socket,turn the ign off again. my questions,im still in the green scale on the indicator,do i have to be in the yellow or red?.i have no secondary indication that this is for a inspection.i just got the car running and want to start fresh.what is the duration criteria for this indicator.my owners manual says consult the service handbook but it is simply full of authorized bmw repair facilitys world wide. thanks bones.

ok,so im going to leave ign on for the entire procedure.im guessing by your two word response that this is such a simple task that it dosent even deserve any additional info.ill try again. thanks bones

My TDS wouldnt reset until I shorted the pins for 20 seconds...
