    Default What's this cable? (pic)

    1994 540i.

This is a closeup of the front driver side of the car. This specific "cable" is only on this side (there's no identical one on the passenger side).

Is it for the airbag or something? Where does it go? IN the bumper?

    Or am I just retarded?

And for the sake of future reference, where is the airbag sensor?

I believe it's the outside ambient air temperature sensor for your OBC display.

Look here at item no. 10 - Sensor outdoor temperature.

That's the temperature sensor used by your OBC to display the exterior temperature.

    Excellent. Thanks.

    Anyone know where it plugs?

The car is completely put back together and finished, but I'm taking the front end apart this weekend for a few minor adjustments, and I remember I just rolled this up and tucked it away the last time (cause I didn't know what it was, and I was just testing all the other parts for fit).

It doesn't plug. It basically gets clipped to the radiator support panel, at least on my 535 that's the way it is. Zip tie it somewhere the wiring won't rub and leave it alone at that.

Look at your bumper.... notice the panel that has a hole in it on the driver side but not the passenger side? Look at the little hole in that panel.... Thats where it goes on the 540s
