Default 92 E34 Rear window switches

My rear window switches located on the rear doors don't illiminate. I don't know if they've ever worked before. I replaced the switches, but the new ones also don't illuminate. Any suggestions??

I had the same question a while back.

The replacement switches I purchased I confirmed illuminate. But when I plug them in my car, they do not illuminate. I've toggled the child lock switch, and that has no effect.

    Blown fuse?

Do the windows themselves move when you press the switch?

Yes, the windows operate properly with both the original switches and the replacement switches.

The switches should light up (UK spec 1994 does) - they do turn on & off with the child lock switch in the centre console.

Here's a "how to" thread on replacing the bulbs that I wrote a short while ago http://www.bimmer.info/forum/showthread.php?t=34513

Here's a pic of the wiring schematic of the switches which clearly shows that the lamp is connected across the live & ground feeds

When I plug in the replacement switches, which I've confirmed illuminate in another E34, they do not illuminate in mine.
