Default Forced to R & R heater Core now....:(

Coolant level warning this morning.. filled then drove an hour. Parked see two puddles near rear engine on the ground. Up on lift see Coolant mixing with condensate dripping from AC drain hoses.. Heater Core Leak now terminal? $1,400 Bimmer indy next week or order part and Do it myself in the miserable humid Summer heat? What would Jesus do?

Bypass the heater hoses until cooler weather permits you to R&R the heater core.

You mean the Heater Valve hoses that feed into the firewall? Is there a reference on which hoses to work on anywhere you know of ?

Yes... just follow the hoses... You will need a fitting to do the bypass.

So connect Hose #3 with Hose # 23 bypassing the valves... That what you mean by needing a fittment? To connect those hoses?

I'm trying to bypass the HEATER CORE. What you suggest doesn't seem to do that.. I need to know which line feeds coolant into the Aux water pump/Heater valves and connect it to the feedback from the Heater Core coming back from the firewall ,I think.. that would bypass the whole valve aux pump assembly altogether.. but does hose #16 also feed coolant as well as three or is that a return hose from the valves. If #16 is also a coolant feed then i need connect that also with the return hose from the HC right?

Update .Found the T connector fix with just the Three Firewall hoses in the Archives.. Bill recco'ed just doing 1 + 3 while plugging 2 but i saw a T used to connect 1+2 to 3.. The part about having no defog is a problem as i have to pass inspection which believe it or no tests for defrost function .If they just feel for blowing i;d be fine but if they felt for heat i'd fail so i guess I'll get the Inspection first maybe later today.. thanks for listening.. lol.

Looks like you are right... 3 to 23... but what is 16? The fitting so you can connect two hoses together.

Hose #16? appears next to hose #3 in this Real OEM diagram.. I haven't learned weather that's a feed in or a return hose. I assume its a feed in to the water valves but i didn't see it refrenced in the Bently manual which in fact i've only seen clearly describe the three hoses at the firewall(Pass and drivers feed and one return) The other fix i found has you using a "T" connector and connecting the Two Feed hoses at the firewall to the one return hose at the firewall bypassing the Heater Core effectively though not the water valves/aux water pump. Not sure why leaving them involved is either neccesary or desireable yet..
