I have a 94 3.0 alusil. Dipstick number is completely different. 1.733.547. Total length is 32 3/8 in.
Hope this helps.
I need a favor from those of you who have the M60 4.0 engine. Maybe the 3.0 engine is the same thing. Could you look at the oil dipstick to read off the number and post it?
I have an oil level sensor message during engine start. I thought the first thing I check is the oil level. But I was shocked to find the two disptick from my two M60 engines are of different lengths.
The on which came with the replacement engine from a E32 4.0 V8 has the number 1 718 861.9 inscribed at the end of the dipstick. The bad Nikasil which is now sitting in my garage has 1 742 506 inscribed.
1 718 861.9 is shorter by at least two inches.

Thanks. 1 742 506 is 23 3/8 inches long (20 3/4" clear without the handle). So this is it. That came with the E32 M60 engine ( 1 718 861.9) is too short.
