Default welding on the handle bracket

Pulled the handle on the passenger side and discovered that the bracket holding the actuator is broken. Looks to be some kind of pot metal or aluminum. Anyone have any success welding on these?

Welding is not possible on this material as far as I know. Just make a bracket, drill some holes and it works, like many have done already

I recommend setting the reinforcing plate in JB Weld or some similar epoxy to prevent flexing. JB Weld is your friend.

You must have read my mind. Did just that and secured it with 1/8" pop rivets.
