Default Required tyre sizes for 15inch stock honeycombs

Do 15 inch style 5's take 195/65/15 tyres?
I could get my hands on those for a small price but It'd be stupid to throw away new tires (90% thread) if they don't fit.
Believe it or not, it would be un upgrade from the fugly metal wheels I have now.

I got this reply from an earlier thread:

I think the OEM for the 15's was 235/60/15.
235 is the width in mm right? That seems a huge difference.

Anyway, neither Realoem or BMWfans.info tell you which tire sizes work on this.

225/60/15 is the stock size. Im fairly certain that the 195s would fit, but i wouldnt recommend it.

Damn. I thought so. Any other stock alloy rims that would take these tyres?
The rims I have now are rusting metal type with the obnoxious plastic wheelcover.
Maybe I should just buy them and wait till I need to change the tyres anyway.

door sticker and owners manual should have the info. If no manual, get one as there is a wealth of data that can serve you well.

If fact they fit and run without a problem. That's the tire size I use for my snow tires. They certainly won't perform at the same level as the wider, sportier 225/60/15 but you can run them without issues on any E34.

Just because they aren't stock doesn't preclude using them. I have mine mounted on a separate set of rims and while I only put on 3500 miles in the winter (use the 4x4 more for winter), they give confidence in the wet and snow that a wider tire can not match.

Hold on. What exact reason do I have for not using these tyres? Would the narrow fit cause stability problems? Or would they wear the wrong way?
    What issues are there?

No problem, this is one of the recommended sizes.
