Default Help with chip replacement procedure

I got stuck at step 5 in this tutorial

    http://bmwe34.net/e34main/upgrade/chip.htm

I saw that there are 2 gold color mounting clips, but I couldn't pull it hard enough to remove it. It looked kind of lopsided too (one clip is higher than the other side). Do you guys just remove it with your finger? How hard do I have to yank it? Will I damage anything if I just get some wire hanger and yank it out? Thanks...

Are you being serious? I guess BMW didn't want us to pull those clips out.

did you get the boards seperated? if not theres your problem, first time it took me quite a while but now it takes like 5 minutes from the time I open the hood. Perserverance helps along with a few beers, no crowbars either. The first time I couldnt get the boards completely apart so I fished the chip off the board with a small screwdriver noting the direction of the original chip (very important)

step 5... use needle nose pliers to remove the gold colored clips (pull straight up), then you need to kinda hold the dme box towards the front to get it to slide out of the slot. I'll keep an eye out on this thread

OKay, I finally got all the way to the chip last night. It's fairly easy to do and can be done within 15 minutes. Thank you BillionPA and Regal.

I don't have the chip yet, I had to make sure I could open it before Mark sends the chip. By next week I should have it. I will update then. Thanks again... Thu
