powering speakers

im getting these speakers

for my 735iA 1989 and before getting them just wanted to make sure an amp isnt necessary to power these speakers.
im only getting them in the rear, because when i putmy cd player in i never hooked them up in the rear and just finally decided i should the other day and when i did, they would barely make sound.. not sure if this is from insufficient power supply or just crappy speakers?
i appreciate any help

you're probably not getting enough power in the back. That's the only reason i think that would cause it to sound very low
