It firmed it up a bunch for me on the E34 when I flushed with regular valvoline stuff. On my Volvo, not so much.
just got done flushing with the old fashioned manual method since the power bleeder was taking too long. anyway i noticed the pedal is a lot more firm now. is that normal?

not to mention it had a white film in it. water perhaps?

The new fluid from this flush job should loosen up the remaining crud in the brake system, then your good for regular bi-annual system flush.
