Default Problem with rear window blind

Has anyone done trouble shooting of the rear window blind.

When pressing the button it sometimes goes up and down as normal but now it does not work at all.

It seams like a relay issue but not sure where to look. Fuses are fine and when the button is pressed it pulls a 4amp drain. Maybe the motor has gone...who knows.

Any trouble shooting experiance like relays etc please post.

99.999% of us don't have a rear window blind, let alone a power one

The control module for the sunblind lives on the underside of the parcel shelf. There's nothing between the switch, the power source at the rear power distribution center, and that control module.

Chances are the (plastic) gears in the unit have stripped to the extent that they are jammed in the down position. If it's on the gearbox side, it can be modified for a partial repair, or there are replacement metal gears available in the aftermarket. If it's on the motor side, time to get a new motor. But first, pull the control module and see what it's outputting.

Also, Erich (shogun) has posted info on sunblind repairs in the past. Have a search.

I only know one person who makes these, and that is someone in Germany.
Have bought from him 5 pieces in steel version.
On my website below on the link to evansweb (Jon Evans) there is a repair done on a plastic gear by re-installing the bigger gear on a range where the teeth are still o.k., as only a part of the whole toothed rim is used.
    Typical symptom: rattling noise.

    Here
    http://evansweb.info/articles/2003/0...r-blind-repair

The gear was replaced by a better version around 1996, but they can be found even in E38 built in 1998, apparently the maker had a huge stock of old ones. Same gears are also installed in some Mercedes Benz models
