Dodged the radiator bullet

The Sunday before Christmas our scheduled overtime was called off at the last minute and the weather was nice so I decided even if I did not have time to do the intake reseal I could at least replace the radiator. I got a flashlight and went out to see what I was getting into. It made enough of an impression that I went back for batteries for the camera and made this picture.

Looks like I dodged the bullet on this one. After I finished it did sound like the valves were coming out of the engine from first start until warmup, but after thinking about it, I believe the water pump was cavitating until the thermostat opened and the coolant could reach the pump.

Thanks to you guys for letting me know about when this would likely go.
