oil on my plugs

Ok...this is the third time writing this to I am a little flustered.

Car on blocks due to working on new rear spring setup.
Decided to replace the spark plugs.

"oh looky there....oil ALL OVER plug #2 on the spark side."

Most of the plugs were LESS than finger tight. Plug #1 was in perfect shape. 2,3,4,5, and 6 were just downright dirty. 2 was covered in oil

I plan on looking at the PCV and Breather Valve. My question is this.....It has been starting rough...Turning over then stopping with a clunk. Another key or two and it starts right up.

Been running pretty good even though I haven't checked the compression.

Can someone take a look at these pics and tell me what you would do? New valve stem seals? New Valve Cover gasket?

Whats with all the oil residue under the plastic valve cover, and on the coils?

Just a thought. Could the PCV really cause that much oil to blowback into the case?

If it were the valve cover gasket, how would there be that gold/tan oil residue under the plastic valve cover.?

When looking at the pictures it looks more like the valve cover gasket needs replacing there.
If the plugs were less than finger tight that's probably your culprit.

Looks like a leaky valve cover gasket to me. Its not hard to do, just clean the surfaces the gasket touches and don't tighten it much (maybe 10 ft-lbs) Put in some new plugs (just the boring stock copper 2 prong ones) and make sure you tighten those down. It will probably get rid of your rough start and clunking shutdown. Also, check the rubber boots on the coil packs, they can deteriorate if they are flooded with oil, but are cheap to replace.

Do you know where I can get the rubber boots for the ignition coils? I looked on autohaus and only found the coils. At $45 a peice, that could get pricey.

I have a confessoin to make. One of the first things I ever worked on regarding my car was my VCG. I can imagine that I might have done a less than perfect job.

I have been searching for rubber boot and ignition coil but can't seem to find the exact part of the rubber part of the ignition coil.

I definitly need to replace them, cause some of them are soaked.
