An engine shutdown at high speed is a major issue...I wouldn't drive it again until you get it looked at. Not something to shrug off in my book.
this morning it was 36 degrees, and when i slowed down from 95 or so, my engine cut off. didn't slow too abruptly, down to 70 in about the time it takes to change lanes... started back up no problem, and got me to school without another incident...
any insight on this? i'm not sure if i should be too worried or not... it's never happened before.

I am thinking more along the lines of idle control valve. Maybe since it was cold out the TB is too far closed and the ICV closed down and the motor suffocated with high vacuum.
