I need a 535i tranny for an E34.and the only one I can get in Canada is from an E28...
I don't know if it is a direct fit.

Not a clean bolt up. The flylwheel side bolts up no problem but the back flange and output shaft are different. In particular, the centering pin (output) shaft is longer on the E28. The flange in longer as well.
While you can change the flange to the E34 variety, the real problem is the longer output shaft. It can't really be cut shorter due to how it's tapered, also it's hardened steel.
I came to the conclusion that you would need to shorten your driveline about an inch or so to make it fit.
Let me know if you come to a different conclusion or find a way to make it work!
