Default Akebono pads - Euro or ProACT?

I've ordered front and rear Akebono 'Euro' pads from Tire Rack in the U.S.
For anyone in Australia considering buying anything from Tire Rack you may as well forget using a credit card because Tire Rack will contact your bank here in Australia to confirm you are the genuine holder of the card..... BUT the bank won't give out that information, so credit card transactions appear to be impossible.

With the amount of internet based credit card fraud around I fully understand a company doing this to cover themselves against a fraudulent purchase but it meant I had to do a Telegraphic Transfer which added another $60.00 odd to the cost!!

Now after receiving an email confirming receipt of my payment Tire Rack now tell me they are sending me ProACT pads for the rear and Euro pads for the front.

It appears they screwed up my order as I ordered Euro pads all round but they have charged me for the cheaper ProACT's which I didn't order.

I replied to the email pointing out their error.
I hope they come good and send me what I ordered at the price they originally quoted me because another Telegraphic Transfer will cost me another $60.00 on top of the difference - Keep you posted!

FWIW, I ordered Akebono Euro front and rear from TireRack and have yet to have them installed. Can't wait though.

Thanks for the offer Jeff, but the money has already been transferred and I've already paid all the 'non refundable' transaction fees'.

I trust they'll come good as it's their error. I'd be prepared to pay the difference just as long as they accept payment by credit card which should only be another $20.00 or so. If they insist on another Telegraphic Transfer to pay the difference then that will be a different story. Anyway no use worrying about it until they respond.

This transaction has taken about three weeks to get to this stage and my 'BRAKE LINING' warning has been active for the past two weeks!... better get them before Christmas!!

Banks here in the US almost do the same thing, place i work for, i call banks all the time to double check a customers address if they have two differnt ones, or it just looks funny, but all they can tell me, is if the information i have matches up with they have. they can never tell me OH, its 123 sesame street.

Hope thats not what they tried to do to you *kicks Tire Rack*

Tire Rack came good and I received the Akebono Euro brake pads in the end and installed them along with new rotors (Textar) and overhauled my brake calipers.
They are much lower dusting than the standard pads. This also means less wheel cleaning. As of January 1st car washing is banned here due to the drought.

Just a point. Anyone from Australia considering buying Akebono pads from the U.S. should look for a supplier that will accept a credit card or it will cost you an extra $60.00 in telegraphic transfer fees... which on a $200.00 sale is a ****in' rip off!
