Thanks for the compliment Jeff. The 911s from the SC [3.0L Flat Six, starting in 1978] and 3.2 Carrera [1984-1988/89] were and still are relatively bulletproof. The cars really aren't that expensive to maintain provided that you get a well sorted car to begin with. PPIs are important because making a bad car right can cost you an arm and a leg. A great resource to look around for information on these cars is www.rennlist.com by the way.Originally Posted by Montreal525
I would count on spending between $15-$20K for a solid, well kept 911 of this vintage [SC or 3.2]. There were issues with the motors in the 2.7 Carreras of the mid 70s, and it is generally believed that those cars should be avoided for the most part. A properly maintained and excersized 911 will last for a loooooong time, and the visceral experience of driving these older 911s is truly unique.

Here in Chile are not uncommon. The army bought a lot of them, and also some particulars in the 70s (we had an important german immigration in the south part of Chile in the 18th century), so you can find them in a good shape and there are not expensive.
So, when you come to Chile, post me and you'll have a free ride...
Cheers,
Jose
