Default Help!! Car Does Not Start

    Hi,

I need some help. I left my BMW 530 1994 parked for a couple of weeks and it does not start. It has battery and it tries to start but it seems like if there was no gas going into it. I think it might be the fuel filter but I don't know where it is located. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

try adding fresh gas into it, also jump start it, sometimes i big boost in electrical energy will be enough to get it to fire up.

i would do an overnight charge on the batt first, rather than jumping it.

Hmmm I hope that its the fuel filter! I went through a similar process. Are you running a Nikasil or Alusil block? To save time, if you can get it to a shop, I'd have a leakdown test performed on the engine cylinders. I went through replacing fuel filters and fuel pump. Come to find out later on that I had compression loss in 3 of the 8 cylinders. I aslo have a 94 530.

the fuel filters are behind the right rear wheels, there are 2 of them in parallel.

my car was a bit more compliant with starting after i replaced the DME relay, but only when the engine is warm. having my tank more than half full makes it start right up when cold (fuel pump is on its way out, i already have all replacemt hardware but the pump itself!)

fuel filters are a bitch to change, unless you like lots of gasoline in your face.

when my car sat for a few weeks, it started but ran like total **** for the minute i had it on. i overnight charged it (16 hours), good as new in the morning.

in all likelyhood, the battery is low, and combining that with plugs that may not be in the best shape, and injectors that might not be very clean, its just not starting.

i just had this problem. first make sure there is actually gas in the tank. my gauge said there was plenty of gas but in reality it had zero. so, thats my two cents.

If it cranks AND it is below freezing it is likely a fuel filter / filters. Easy fix.
