Default 1994 BMW 530V8 Tourer - Double Sunroof

    Hi

My newly acquired 1994 Tourer with 40k on the clock has a working double sun roof but there is a leak from the rear sun roof into the car. I do not think it has ever been serviced and seems to have been hardly used. I have been advised to clear out the drain holes. I intend to use compressed air? Any comments please? Does anyone know where the drain pipes come out under the car?

    Thanks Again

    Brian

use weed eater filament first, keep your rubber covers on the rails all the time except for using a rack, don't be afraid to blast the car wash sprayer in the front and see the soap bubble come out the back...after it's cleaned out of course.

    let's see it.

    Hi

Thanks for the reply. Can I ask what is weed eater filament? Any idea of where these drain tubes exit the car?

    Thanks

I will try the nylon line today and then finish with a air hose.

    Thanks Again

The problem with the air hose is if their is a blockage in the line that is stronger than the sticktion of the rubber drain hose to the metal drain tube, the rubber hose pops off the metal drain tube. Then you get to find this out during the next rain, as in you have a huge mess underneath the rubber hose/metal drain tube junction.

In other words, don't use air pressure to fix this problem...

Sometimes a stubborn clog can be removed by soaking the clog with water (i.e. filling the drain tube with water, letting it soak, then jabbing at the clog with the trimmer line) and the trimmer line.

Make sure the outlet is not sealed up with road junk or tar.
