    Default 100 octane

i recently discovered a 76 gas station in my town that sells regular, premium, and RACING FUEL. the minimum octane count was 100. would using this fuel damage my engine?

No, but you won't gain anything. Higher octane fuel is less likely to detonate. On an engine with a knock sensor, the ECU can adjust ignition advance to just below knock point and potentially improve performance. The M20, M30, and M50 engines have no knock sensors, therefore there is no performance benefit to using higher octane fuel than recommended.

Waste of money ($7/gal?) even if it does smell good. If it's leaded you'll destroy your catalyst as well

you may or may not gain any mileage/performance, it will most likely not hurt anything if you want to give it a try, it will not be leaded at a public gas station, leaded fuel is not legal on roads, even a gallon or two to a tank will raise the grade a useful amount if it's needed
