525iT tailgate latch

The tailgate latch on my '93 525iT doesn't function. The window latch works sporatically, but the gate latch doesn't work at all. Is this likely to be the latch or the infamous wiring harness. Everything else on the tailgate works (wiper, lights, etc). tia.

When you dig in there you'll be surprised (dismayed?) by the thin grade of wire that was used. Cut, patch, things should go back to normal.

IIRC the wiper/washer and right-side lighting harness is on the passenger side, while the latch/window and left side lighting is on the driver's side.

The wiring on my '92 -T was buggered enough at one point that as I opened and closed the hatch, the dash lights would all come on......

The switch on my tailgate latch failed. I ran current thru it and it work off and on. I have ordered another latch and expect to have this working fine by the weekend. My glass hatch has always worked fine.
