Replaces engine & trans mounts: not too soon!

Apologies for the blurry picture, I threw away the mounts before I could take another shot Anyway did engine and 2 sets of 5HP30 mounts today. Engine and front trans mounts were in reasonable shape after ~15 years but the back trans ones were both ripped right through the middle. I must say that the design of those failed to impress me one bit ... the new ones are bulging from the start and are not fully supported by metal on top. Keep an eye on those ones ...

The bmwe34.net procedure for replacing engine mounts is not very accurate, at least not in my case. To get enough clearance for removing either mount I had to remove the top nuts from both. Also for the left one (LHD) lifting the oil pan did work but because the engine is mounted slanted I had to lift under the right mount bracket to be able to remove that mount.

Replacing the auto trans mounts is easy.

Sure makes a nice difference in overall smoothness!
