Default To claim or not to claim

This is the question. My 19 yr old has damaged the front end of our 91 525 and it does not look like a home repair is possible. If the blue book value is $3K max, and her insurance will surely increase. Should we just sell the car for salvage value and not even make an insurance claim?

    Anyone had a similar experience?

Oooo, its a toughy. Her next insurance preimium will increase but i reckon only by about 40% ( i myself lost my no claims last year and went from 600 pound per year to 900 pounds per year)

Say u get 2500 for the write off that'll easily cover her premium next year and be better than the salvage costs of the car..wont it? 2500-3000 dollar is a lot compared to salvage value (which cant be much,in the UK a saloon is worth 60-100 pounds if u get the breakers to come take it off u)

maybe try breaking it for spares urself, the interior will prob fetch over 2 hunner dollars

Sig car has gone, but buying an E34 on my return to Britain in 3 months
