Default Electric Cooling Fan in a 530/540

Has anyone done the electric fan upgrade like Bruno talks about in his site, to a 530/540? How many CFM do I need to move realistically?
I've found some options as far as fans and control units but
it's pretty tight down in there and I don't particularly want to modify the intake system.

    Thanks

If you are not racing... don't need it... use factory fan. The factory clutch fan is really powerful... I don't know how much CFM but it is quite high... Fan is only used for under 25 MPH cooling... after 25MPH, it is all air force.

    Tiger,
I was just thinking about maximizing my cooling since a lot of my driving is stop n go, stoplight to stoplight in Florida heat. Avg MPH according to OBC is 23-25 mph.

Are you having issues right now keeping everything cooled off?

No real issues. I just wanted to be preemptive.
I have noticed the plastic pieces like the shroud getting brittle. And I know from my computer stuff that cooling by a few degrees extends component life a lot.

Don't bother... I got same car... what we have is enough. OBC don't mean anything.

if you want a switchable fan id splice a switch into the aux fan allready on the car, that things a monster, it'll have more ass then most aftermarket units. the only thing i don't like about the aux fan system is by time it hits high speed the engine temp is almost beyond the cooling systems control, on the older bmws with two fan switches it was easy to fix, swap the wires from low to high and get a lower temp low switch, i've yet to find lower 3 way switches
all america wants is cold beer warm cat and a place to take a poop with a door on it

But remember... if you use AC, that aux fan already turn on too... and I don't know how the result will be if you supplied twice the current... depending on how you wired it.

Lastly, if you think your engine fan is not enough... it is possible that you clutch is going bad. When my fan kick in high speed... with hood open, it feels like turboprop airplane power... if you don't get that... then it is possible that the clutch went bad. or is going bad.
