    Default LKM gurus please advise.......

    A friend is looking for an LKM for a U.S. 735 (e32). It is apparently beyond repair. I have seen a few on the bay and wonder whether THIS ONE would suffice. Are they as interchangable as the listing indicates? I will compare the e32 to mine in the meantime. I may bid anyway so I have a spare around.

    Thanks again,

    Dave M

    A bit more info;

    Below is the description from another auction. My LKM is a an LKM-L US, part # 6135-1391-348. Real.oem lists the part # for the 88 735 as 6135-8350-344. According to the description both could be replaced by the auctioned LKM. Funny, realoem does not find a part that matches my part #.

    Here is an OEM BMW E32 E34 Bulb Control Module LKM-L. This module has
    one 35 pin connector. The OEM part number on this unit is 61.35-1 379 373. There are also many cross-referenced numbers that this part will work in place of - - - 61 35 1 391 344, 61 35 8 350 377, 6135-8350-344, 6135-1391-348, 61 35 8 351 295, 61 35 8 351 343. This part will fit E32 chassis cars including 735i, 735iL, 740i, 740iL, 750iL, and E34 chassis 525i, 525i M50, 525i Touring, 530i, 530i Touring, 535i, and 540i. This part currently lists for $336.00 at dealer.

    Just wondering if anyone has had any trouble buying a different part # and making it work.

    Be careful with the ones off eBay. I bought one off of there last month, and neither of the low beams worked when I put it in. I ended up taking mine out and soldering it to get the fog light working, which was the original problem. I didn't mess around with the eBay one too much, but I got all of the lights to work except one lowbeam when I realized I might as well just fix the old one.

    If you want my eBay one, just pay for shipping and it's yours. I'm sure it just requires a little more soldering effort to get functioning properly.

    I appreciate the offer, but I might keep looking for a functional one. If I don't feel confident, I will definately take you up on the offer.

    Sounds good. If I have some free time I might try getting it working. I'll let you know.

    If you get it working, I'd gladly pay you a fair price for it, as I know I can rely on it. Also, I'm definately not a competant 'solderer' (if thats a word). Not sure how your spare time is looking, but let me know if its an option.

    Yeah, I bought one too off eBay long time ago... Low beam error... simply resoldered it and it is working perfect since then.

    I screwed up my original LKM.

    Dave, if you still have a need, I've got a spare LKM-L that I used in my 535i until I fixed my original one. The P/N is 61.35-1 379-373 while RealOEM lists the -344 as a replacement for the e34 also...I'm thinking it will work just fine in the e32. It has a sticker on the side stating that it is a remanufactured part, and I promise you it works perfectly. Does $35.00 USD and whatever the shipping costs are sound fair? Shoot me a PM for details.
