    Default Air Filter Options

Have an M30 AFM (027) going in soon for M20 motor and trying to decide on which filter and/or housing arrangement is best.

-cone filter with heat shield (what material is best for heat shield?)
-find a M30 filter housing from a 535 and make a custom bracket (OEM filter cartridge)
-adapt the M20 filter housing to the M30 AFM (OEM filter cartridge)

    what do you guys think?

Does anyone have dimensions for the 535 filter housing?

I'm sure Kobe doesn't really need a OEM vs modified airbox discussion

Anyway, I would work with the original M30 housing and go from that... unless you're adept at fab'ing brackets.

    Hey, Qube, I searched!
Asking b/c Im installing the bigger M30 AFM, maybe I need the bigger filter and housing to go with it. After doing more research Im not convinced that the cone filters do the job nor do the heat shields around them. So if the M30 filter housing can fit under my hood then I would install it and fabricating brackets is not a problem. Just need dimensions

Can't really improve on the factory design.

I love cold-air intakes. There's a good one mentioned in this thread. I guess the M30 box is bigger, you'll just have to get one and fit the sucker in. It is supported by two mounts underneath and a 10mm nut that fastens a rubber bung to a mount in the engine bay. Details below; (the RH rubber mount is missing form the pic)
