Suddenly, NO cool air

It's my fault, I just mentioned to my wife how much colder air in 1990 e34 is compared with 1998 e36 about a week ago. Air worked great till yesterday. Today, NO COLD air???

Compressor kicks in but temp doesn't go down. Had new compressor and drier installed in 5/2002 @ dealer for $1700, before I started doing 90% of my own work. Could compressor be dead already?

Anyone have any good/inexpensive possible solutions?

Any help would be great.

A/C button isn't on?----stupid, but it happens.

wish it was that easy.... Had the buttons replaced w/the compressor in 2002 as it wouldn't stay on. Currently, it lights up blue but no Cold Air
