Yes, e39 wheels will fit an e34 with hubcentric rings from tirerack. Take a look at bmwe34.net, there is plenty of info on this topic there, also, here is a pic of my wheels.

I'm sure these are E39 wheels on my tourer, they where fitted by the previous owner but I recently had the wheels off to fit some new break pads and there wher no rings?

Excuse my ignorance but what do they look like?
