how would I know if my cap has been replaced yet, and can I still go to a dealer to get the new one?

Look at the second page of the recall and it will tell you how to tell if you have the defective cap.

If it has **** or tires, you are going to have problems.

BMWNA or any BMW dealer should be able to tell you if all recalls/campaigns have been completed on your car. All you need is the vin. Worked for me.

Thanks, that's what this forum is good for, since most of us are not the first owners of the cars.
