Interior temperature sensor lives there. Hence the slots to let the air enter.

yep, it doubles as a dust collector too, hit it with some canned/shop air every couple years for shits a giggles and it farts out a decent cloud

Thought it had something to do with temp sensing.I'll have to read the manual and learn how to use it.I'm still at the "grunt,cold, good..." stage..lol
