Default 95 525 Valve Cover Gasket

After changing the plugs last year, I noticed that some oil had seeped into the spark cavities on 2 of them. The boys at BMA did me good, got me the gaskets and I finally got around to putting it in this weekend. 111K Miles on this bad boy, nothing but Mobil1 for last 5 years. Take a look at this engine, I am impressed at how clean it is for such an old beast.

    Scott

BTW - the real problem was the gaskets surrounding the plug holes - it was very brittle, new gasket was rubber.

Looks great. The VC gasket is a very common problem on these beauties, as I'm sure you have found out. I was quite impressed by the looks of my internals after many miles on dino oil. BTW, what do you think the notch in the plastic intake cam cover is for, between cyl 1 and 2? Mynon-vanos has no such notch.

    Just wondering,

Actually I didnt even look that far regarding the notch in the intack cam cover
I was pressed for time and had 90 minutes to be in and out.

i think it is a little "windage tray" for the vanos activator at the front of the head, dave. its a good thing that you got there with the synthetic oil in time, some people have "honeycomb hideout" colored valvetrains from using mostly conventional oil, and would really like to get rid of it (even if it is superficial)
