Often you can see it if it's bad... like rubber spaghetti flaking off.

I've never had one so bad I could FEEL it... but I imagine if it failed you would know it right away. Driveline vibration under load would lead me to inspect it - pretty easy, just get your eyes under the car and check it out. If it looks 100% intact, I would look at other things as being a source of trouble, center bearing, tranny mounts, etc. depends on what symptoms you're seeing.

Qube, this wasn't a how to fix or what to look for question, just a general (conversational?) one just to have an idea on how common the guibo issue is. BTW there's nothing wrong with mine..yet. Maybe I didn't explain myself clearly enough; my appologies.

I had my guibo replaced, and the symptoms are stuttering while accelerating and shifting between gears. Constant vibration in some instances. Very annoying in all instances.

Any wierdness transmission related, you can blame on the guibo typically, if you've changed the fluid. I would find that comforting, except that it costs so damn much to replace at a shop.

So finding it difficult to shift smoothly between gears, particularly when I let the off the gas and the driveshaft has a chance to spin-down so to speak, that would likely be a guibo?
I'd been wondering about that. Was going to start with a fluid change and SSK, but wasn't sure how to go about that driveline "lash" or looseness I was feeling, short of opening up the tranny.. I'll have to go that route next. Because it's really messing up my enjoyment of the car.. It's still fast as snot, but difficult to drive smoothly like a family cruiser (which is what it is more often than not.)
