Default 50-60 Mph Shimmy (thrust arms replaced)

I replaced the thrust arms on my 93 525i with arms with 740i bushings. The shaking/shimmy under braking has completely stopped (which was really the worse of it all) but I still have a hard shaking around 55mph, its pretty damn scary. I was going to take it in for an alignment and wheel balance but I wanted to see if there was anything else I could check before i take it in.

You can try rotating the front tires to the back. If one of your front tires is out of balance or you have a bent rim, it will be much less noticable when they are on the back of the car.

if the shake stopped under braking how are you getting a shake at 55mph? Any loose steering componant can cause this along with off balance wheel, bent wheel and out of round tire. as suggested rotate the front to rear and see if it helps.

I do not have hubcentric rings however the TSW rims I have on the car came off of an E34 and are supposed to be a direct fit.

Did you do the final torque with two passengers in the front seat?

I figured it out, I think. I put it back on jacks today and moved the wheels by hand. Looks like the center link ball joints are bad. I will replace it with the tie rods and get an alignment Thanks for the help.
