    Default Temp gauge problem

I've got a very irritating problem with the temp gauge. When on contact the needle goes to the red area.
When i bought the car this was already a problem, the seller would pay the repair, so i went to the garage and they replaced the temp sensor, but the problem still occured.
Then what I dit was, replace the wire and spray the contacts, and I already replaced the gauge cluster, but the problem is still there.

What i find is strange is that the new sensor has a 2pin connector, but there only goes 1 wire to my gauge cluster, could there be a wrong sensor?

Or could there be something else nog right? Maybe another wire on the gauge cluster?

There are 2 sensors on the head, could they be mixed up?

    Please help me.

It just sounds like you have the wrong sensor in there. What engine have you got? The BLUE sensor goes to the ECU, the BROWN sensor works the dash. The sensor only needs to have one pin.

The sensor witch the gauge cluster is connected has a black connector. Its nog an original bmw one, it has been replaced.
But it had 2 connectors, should it have 1?

I have an m50b20 engine, its from 1995.

I remember Kai525 telling me that the temp guage sensor are not all the same. In my case I was trying to use a 520 sender with a 535 dash and getting full-on needle bending action! Maybe a trip to the breaker's yard will get you a handful of brown senders to try out.

The sensor has been replaced, the gauge unit also, and the wire between also..but still problems.

It goed in to the red very quickly, it isnt a engine problem.

    Anybody has an idea?
