My old girl has always had a hot start problem,but I have put up with it.
Now the last two weeks she has been hard to start when cold 2-4 cranks,it turns over fine but just does not catch.
Once shes starts goes sweet as.
Today started motor 4 cranks no joy the the dash said oil pressure something check hand book then was gone.

Then a noise that sounds like a Hair dryer was coming from the starter motor and would not stop ,even with the key out!!

I open the garage and got out my tools and pull the battery cables off,put them back on same noise left it for 5min then put them back on same thing,so I tapped the starter motor with a hammer left it for 5 more mins and put batt back on the noise was gone,started car 3 cranks went for a drive to charge batt back up,now I am back home, what happend??

My cap and rotor are the original thinking of getting new ones anythink else I can check or get?

Sticky solenoid Is that what the noise was?

Could this cause my car to hard start or did I over crank it causeing the solernoid to stick?
