will later strut units fit early 535?

I will be replacing the strut units in my '92 535 (production date 10/91). Not just the shocks, but the complete units. There is a transition date to a new strut assembly at 11/91. Can I fit the newer part to my older car? and if so, are there any problems to overcome? Thanks in advance to all who respond. - Mirek

Dont quote me on this, but I think you can replace the whole strut "hat" to get the larger diameter assembly in there... but there are people much more knowledgable than me around here.
