    Default Manual Trannys for m30b35's

What manual transmissions do I have to hunt down for an m30b35, like codes.

I dont think this ZF in my 7 is going to last much longer and I want to mod this thing a little bit more for some more power, or lack thereof... loss of power.

    Would a tranny from a 3.5L e34 bolt up, or do I need a longer driveshaft/tailshaft?

    Thanks again

The e32 735i 88-90 and all e34 535i's 89-93 used the Getrag 260/6 manual trans and can be freely swapped from an e34 to an e32. You will need a longer driveshaft (just the front half), the Getrag 260/6 is approx. 6" shorter than the ZF 4hp22 automatic, output yoke is different as well.

You can also use an earlier e28/e24/e23 trans such as the 260, 260/5, 262, 265, etc. Not all of them will have a 5th overdrive, some were 1:1 so depending on which one you use, you might have to change the diff ratio as well. Early e28 transmissions also have different rear crossmember supports and different shift linkage business. Some cutting & welding of the shift linkage bracket is required to mate it to a newer car. Best to just stick with a 260/6 if you can find one, all the linkage & crossmember stuff is off-the-shelf e32/e34 parts and the install will be 100% nuts & bolts.
