I don't have an answer for you, but you could probably PM Jon K to get good answers about this type of interior custom work.
The wood surface surrounding the shifter is looking a bit worn out. I wondered if anyone had found a desireable alternative to replace it and the whereabouts of DIY tec.I've seen one with what looked like a black urethane or some such synthetic rubberlike material that wasn't very appeling. I imagine i could go by the Exotic Hardwood place up in Rowley,MA and get some gorgeous burl, cut it to the same size, urethane it, polish it and install. Any reason i couldn't or shouldn't do this?
