    Default I just ripped off my gas lid?

    Ha, yes, it was after reading the price for premium fuel..., I opened the gas lid and it made some springy snap and remained in my hand. I have only 180 miles until 200,000 miles on my 1991 BMW 525i, and for some sick reason I want to work on this car. Is there a simple fix for snapping this piece back on, has this happened before to any of you guys? Is it easy to remount?

    I just started off simple, my suspension is shot, glove box isn't on its hooks, and I need to do the *seat cable fix* so prepare for plenty more questions from this newb.

    Thanks;

    Gabe

    99% chance the plastic hinge is broken. You need to get a new one and replace it. It's a fairly simple task.

    I assume you'd replace the whole lid, not only the plastic hinge... the only one I found was on eBay with a pre-broken plastic hinge...

    thats funny you mention that, it has been squeaking, got it from the dealership, ~$18, and I was putting it on in the parking lot, a BMW mechanic actually came out and did it for me, free.... + coffee and donuts for breakfast, can't wait for the next cheapest thing to get from there.
