Had an '85 535i for 2 years, mine started to rust under both front fenders. An easy repair.

I've got an '87 520i. Rust tends to appear on the fenders at the edge of the wheel wells, and the tank filler neck rusts and leaks. I fix the fenders once a year with a paint touch-up kit. Haven't done anything about the filler neck yet.

Open the two front doors, look at the electrical connections that go into the doors at the hinges.Lift up the rubber boots and there may be some rust there. Also at the door drain holes at the bottom.Remove the plastic covers inside the front wheel arches and wash in there, it tends to gather a lot of crap over the years. Under the trunk seal. That's it.

I'm really loving my 528e that was given to me. It's not an M5, but it's got character.

unbelievable, how these huge bumpers can turn a beautiful car into a really UGLY one...

but the owner seems to have an excellent taste, if you take a look into his garage

but why is the drivers seat a non sport seat, and black?! overall beautiful car though. after driving an e28 m5 with a rebuilt engine, getting back into my 535 was, well, paltry.... sigh, someday.
