    Default E28 electrical problems

The right rear light on my 1987 535is is not working. The bulb is fine and the fuses are ok also. Any other ideas of what i should look for.

Socket, wiring, or bulb control unit, in that order.

Clean all contact points using a fine file or screwdriver.

Default Guess you are talking about tail lights, ...

so, being fuse 9 OK, look for the "Rear Lights Check Relay", located in the trunk per the picture. You need to have low resistance conduction between pins corresponding to the Grey/Black and Grey/White wires. If not, you may open the relay box and check soldering point at corresponding circuit path. It is a relay coil.
