Default J.B. Weld and gasoline.. bad idea? OT

    Hello guys & Gayle,

Sorry to go off topic, however I have an interesting question about my little Suzuki. Anyway I recently acquired a silly little Suzuki MT50 trail hopper. The bike has been sitting many years however it appears not to have any major issues… accept the float chamber has two little holes (from corrosion). Amazingly enough the corrosion in the chamber was limited to the bottom. The rest of the carburetor is spotless.

My dilemma is I’m not used to doing half ass repairs.. unfortunately I had very little choice and JB welded the holes. I cleaned both inside and outside and then counter sunk the holes prior to JB weld. The repair looks great!

I assume the repair will certainly hold up long enough to get the engine started.. I’m concerned mostly about the JB weld failing in the long term.

Has anybody had experience with JB weld in a gasoline environment?
    SOLD!

I know I'm a noob, but from my experience JB works great when exposed to gasoline. I've used it on a dozen or more lawnmowers (carbs and tanks) and it held up just fine.
