Default Trying to BUMP starter via diagnostic port

    on E30 1990 325is. Shorting pins 11 and 14, but nothing happens.

My instructions say to have ignition OFF and key out. Is this correct?

Trying to set up for a valve adjustment.

the only reason the key is supposed to be off is so it won't start and drive off if it happened to be in gear, or just plain start and make a mess
