    Default Clutch done

Replaced the clutch on the 540 Saturday. The disk wasn't too worn, but the pressure plate was pretty burned and flywheel had some spots on it. Everything went pretty well once we gave up on the universal alignment tool and I went and borrowed one made for the clutch. I think the thing has been slipping since I got the car because it really feels like it has a lot more power now, absolute blast to drive.

    Here's some pics.

Glad it went smoothly. Seems to be a few clutch related posts recently.

My big question is: Is that your shop? I would give jeffs left nut for a playpen like that. I think i donated a lumbar disc lifting the tranny back into the 525. I imagine it wasn't as difficult with your handy lift.

    Either way, very impressive,

Actually my buddy Mike (Turbo Mike on here) is service manager for that shop, and we got to use it when they were closed. Thank god, too. There is no way I would have wanted to do that on my back in the driveway. We did an auto to manual swap on an e36 cabrio in a garage on jack stands. I don't ever want to do that crap again!

Notice the portable AC unit in the left corner of the pic? That thing is a life saver in the Texas heat.

Did that flywheel require the extra long shank torx bit to remove??? I found out about that while trying to pull the flywheel off of a 530iM parts car- it's not exactly an easy tool to find- I ended up borrowing one from a friend at the stealer.......

It would of if I'd removed it. We were going to remove it and have it surfaced but since I couldn't get it off we just hit it with the 3m pad on the angle grinder.
