I believe that's the temperature sensor that hooks to your HFM from the airbox. It controls the coolant flow to it.
But I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Check bimmerparts.com for it. They tend to have pretty good prices, and quick shipping.

From your description, I can't tell which part you're referring to. Do you mean the non return valve, the air pump, or the rubber boot?

The hard plastic valve thing at the end of the two rubber hoses.

Still not clear what you're referring to. I've labelled your image:

    Hope this helps...

THANKS it is the non return valve I am needing.

Do you have to run them?

Is there a way to bypass it?

There is 2 wires that run across my timing belt cover. One wire with a 2 prong plug that runs across the timing belt cover and goes to nothing. The wire is green with a brownish stripe. The other wire is my crank sensor.

Deal with my car is that I bought it with no head. The timing belt broke and broke the rocker arms and bent the shafts. The guy I bought it from was going to junk it. It is from Florida and is rust and dent free. The inside is pretty much perfect too. So I bought a head off ebay and hole topend kit from bmaparts.com. They seem to be cheap on there prices. I am happy with it. I am just hope'n the bottom is tight and isnt a nocker. lol This is my first BMW. So I am crossing my fingers everything is going to be ok. I am used to building SBC & BBC stuff. I was always told that BMW are super hard to work on. But so far everything was been easier than anything else I have worked on.

BMW put it in there for a reason. I've not tried eliminating it, but I suspect its absence would result either in a brake servo that doesn't work properly or an engine that stalls when you brake. Maybe both. Maybe other things go badly, too, or instead. Dunno. I'm guessing here. Bypass it and see what happens.

Is anything connected to the oil pressure sensor under the right side engine mount? What about the A/C compressor.

Mine was a similar case. See http://shark.armchair.mb.ca/~dave/525i for the whole story.
