Default Car Stalled and won't start

I was driving this morning and was approaching a left turn. Started braking, shifted to neutral from the 3rd gear and the engine stalled. Came to a complete stop, restarted the engine. It started, revved up to 1000rpm and stalled again. Started again, the same. After that engine never started, the starter just keeps revving the engine and thats it. No hint of an ignition.
Thought maybe I ran out of gas? Just to be sure put in additional 5 litres of petrol. No reaction.

Visually inspected all of the fuses. They all look OK.

A month ago I had the ICV cleaned because the engine would stall sometimes. Tried to check it by touching it with a screwdriver with the ignition on. It was in complete stand still, I could not feel any buzzing.

Is it possible that the engine would not start if the ICV is dead? I tried keeping the throttle open a little, but again the engine did not respond.

Good thing this happenned very close to my home

Looks like the ICV is dead. If this is the case, your can isn't going to start. Try replacing it.

    Good Luck.

Went to a mechanic. No fuel is coming to the engine...
He disconnected some hose and spray something called "Rapid Start" while I was cranking the engine with the starter. And engine started.
Seems like the fuel pump is dead, or either it is not getting electricity. Can it be a fuel pressure regulator?

I could not check if the fuel pump is getting electricity because the electrician was not at his work. He will come tomorrow.

Don't forget to check the wires to the pump and the relay. I've been stranded by both of these.

Fuel pump is getting the electricity. It is dead. Looking for a new or a used one now.

I just replaced mine. It wasn't dead but wasn't giving the right amount of fuel to the engine so I had **** all power. The car wouldn't even make it up slight hills! Now with new pump it's 100% again!

Had it changed from another E34. Any need to disconnect the battery to reset the ECU? Well I did it anyway and will reconnect in one and a half hour later.

I noticed that when somebody presses the gas hard enough, there is a black fume from the exhaust. I don't think I had this with the previous fuel pump. It happens only when the accelerator pedal is pressed hard and fast. If you press it up slowly, there is no black smoke.

I think an oil change and new filter might do the trick if it hasn't been done for a while. You don't have to reset ECU to put a new pump in.
