    Default ::.. Track Day Advise

So going out for the first track day in my precious. Out to Shannonville but not sure what course we're going for. It's only 9 people so it'll be fun but not too white-knuckled for a new guy (namely me). There are very strict lapping rules as well. Anyway...

    1. I've changed/upgraded ALL the control arms
    ---- upper thrust & control arm w/Ball Joint & HEAVY DUTY 750il
---- lower aluminum upgrade control arm w/ BUSHING
---- RIGHT AND LEFT TIE ROD COMPLETE ASSEMBLY
    ---- both sway bar links
    ---- idler arm

    2. replaced the Rear Control Arm Mount Link Rod Trailing Arm to Cross Member (dog bones/pitman arms)

    3. running Zimmerman crossdrilled rotors front/back paired with PBR ceramic pads (fully broken in)

    4. General UHP tires on (*sigh*) heavy 17" wheels

    5. ditching the full sized spare, subwoofer, and misc junk in the trunk

    6. changed engine oil to Mobil1 10w40

    7. new blower motor (for my comfort), and to vent heat if needed

    8. installed aluminum front strut brace (Mason engineering)

    9. new Bosch distributor cap and rotor

    10. alignment (of course)

    11. check guibo (good since last replacement)

    12. check for leaks... very, very minor leak at rad

    13. K&N 57i intake w/custom heat shield (for more high end grunt sounds GREAT)

    14. new front and rear wheel hub (and bearings)

    15. ECU has MarkD's blessing... but may do a 'reset' few days before

Anything else needed to prep the car?

She feels extremely tight now (the car!) but I believe it's time to 'dial in the nut behind the wheel'. Everything feels good. No vibes or shimmy at any speed. I also need to shave more of the insulation under the hood to accomodate the brace fully.

If anyone in Toronto or nearby is interested, there's still time! Let me know. It's a 6-9 private event. That's 6 TO 9... not 69

Actually I'm considering shelving the ego and putting the factory airbox in... but the wonderful roar at 4000 RPM

I just remembered one thing I'll need... a bimmer.info sticker for that few extra HP heh

I heard somewhere that taking out the spare upsets the weight distribution... not sure if thats true but something to keep in mind if you're oversteering a bit

I took out the AC, so 'NOT' taking out the spare upsets the weight dist now!

def get new DOT4 racing fluid, get some light shoes that let you feen the pedal and allow your foot to breathe, rainx the glass, and cover the headlights and fogs unless you are gonna be using them.

Also take out the back seat if you want to save some weight

    new spark plugs?

    redline water wetter?

    molybdenum disulfide oil additive?

New shocks - springs - sway bars, if not yet done will make a major difference. Drive as fast and smooth as possible, these things can be driven on the throttle ( shifted from understeer/neutral/oversteer via slight throttle adjustment) - give it heaps and enjoy.
