    Default Adjust them again

    while it's open.

If gorillas broke the spray bar, they may have monkied up the adjustment too.

I hear what you are saying. The spray bar will not be here until next week, so I plan on checking the adjustment to make sure it is correct this weekend. Also, can someone tell me if the Powersteering fluid is supposed to be green. I was not sure if it was a special fluid or it was contaminated??

    Thanks

Default If you have just the regular

power steering, with no LAD system. them you should see some letters on the cap (ATF) or something.

My 1990 525, no LAD just takes good old Dextron III cap says ATF.

My cap does say ATF fluid and my transmission fluid is red but my powersteering fluid looks like someone put Prestone antifreeze in it. They are pretty close together, maybe the last guy got confused.

When dealing with parts purchase, there is no loyalty. The cheapest goes. So far my favorite (cheapest) non-dealer parts source is AutoHauz

    http://www.autohausaz.com/

They are in AZ. Take at least a week with free UPS ground over $50. But I usually plan my purchase so it is tolerable.

My favorite dealer source, again cheapest, is Bell BMW

    http://www.bmw-auto-parts-dealer.com/

They have a complete online system. I get parts from the ETK to enter it on their site online. Sometimes their prices are better than regular mail order houses. Unfortunately they are in my State so I pay shipping and taxes.

If I find a cheaper alternative, I'll switch in a heart beat.

I also found BMW parts prices to be cheaper than my SAAB's in general. The market share has to do with it I think.

    Default The same guy

    who broke the spray bar.

You can flush the system out, by loosing the banjo bolt on the pump letting the green stuff flow out. this may require a couple of fills and runs and flushes since the system has a lot of plumbing and all.

oh, yeah if you are running prestone, you may want to flush that stuff out too, and go BMW blue.

Where is a good place to get the BMW blue coolant? I would not dare to go to the local dealer and ask for it.

I just ordered some maintenance parts from http://getcoolparts.com/ . A/C belt , Pentosin 7.1 P/S fluid, Cabin filter and some other stuff. They matched the $18.95 Per/gallon of BMW blue coolant from, http://www.bavauto.com/ ........
Got the free UPS shipping ( with a over $49 order) and no sales tax.
I think most places you order online from will price match.

    Default coolant alternative

    Tas asks:

<Where is a good place to get the BMW blue coolant?>

If you don't mind a different label on the bottle, get SAAB Coolant. Its the same "blue" Valvolvine Zerex G-48:

    https://www.valvoline-technology.com/data/valv/prodinfo.nsf/0/85256AE300727D2BC1256BBF006E46AD/$file/Zerex+G+48.pdf?OpenElement

Even the bottle is the same white color. Only difference is the label.

Here in the SF Bay Area, where BMW coolant sells between $22-30 per gallon, I found SAAB "blue" Coolant at 2 SAAB dealers for $12 per gallon retail.

I've heard some have gotten SAAB "blue" at a "discount" of around $9 per gallon!
