    Default Purpose of plastic piece

    that is triangular in shape, hollow, about 1/4 inch thick, located in the rear between the speakers? Thought it was some after market thing from PO, but saw same thing on another BMW this afternoon.

    5th passenger belt clip -- for keeping the middle belt out of the way when not in use.

    So thats what the is for...I always thought it was for some sort of child seat or something. Why not just tuck it behind the armrest?

    It always seemed to me that in a front-end accident, the belt would be quite likely to come out of that triangle and nail somebody pretty good with the business end. Maybe other people's hold tighter than mine...
