it's condensation, normal
Today while topping my motor off with some oil (valve cover gasket goes in tomorrow!) I looked at the top of the oil cap (inside top) and some some lightbrown almost milky fluid on the cap. I wiped it off, looked down inside and it looked like regular (used) oil inside the oil fill hole. I pulled the dipstick and it was completely normal color (dark brown, almost black... motor oil has like 2000 miles). I am trying to determind what might the reasoning for this residue be. I have been told it may be moisture that got inside... but im unsure. Any ideas?

all america wants is cold beer warm cat and a place to take a poop with a door on it
whew thats a relief... another problem is my car idles the same with and without the oil cap on... is there some secret to finding a vacuum leak? I have a bad VC gasket, but I don't know if that would be the cause.Originally Posted by winfred
